Special Education/Student Support Services

Region 16 is responsible for and committed to providing a free, appropriate public education for all students, including students with disabilities from ages three to twenty-two in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).  This means students with disabilities are educated with students who are nondisabled in their home schools to the greatest extent possible.  The extent of service is based upon individual student needs as determined by the multidisciplinary team.

Region 16 is dedicated to meeting the needs of all children.  We believe that students with disabilities should be educated in their Least Restrictive Environment.  We also believe that a continuum of placement options must be available to meet the unique and individual needs of students.  We encourage and welcome a strong school and home partnership to work together to best meet the needs of your child and our student.
